My name is Angelika Olson. I was born and raised in the suburbs of the beautiful, medieval town Nürnberg. My family still lives there and I quite often go home to visit.
After finishing secondary school, I became a licensed optometrist. Although I never studied education I always enjoyed working with children. In the year 1995, I met my husband and moved to Colorado, as he was in the military. It was there that I decided to open my own licensed daycare business. After 9 years, the military moved my family to Long Island, NY. For the next two years, I worked at the Head Start Program alongside my kids. After this, I decided to take a break from working and became a stay at home mom, although I was still active in the local school community. I had the pleasure of teaching elementary school kids German at a Saturday school program. In 2012 we moved back to Colorado and I decided to go back into the workforce. Before receiving my certification as an interventionist, I worked as an elementary kitchen manager for 4 years. When I received my certification I spent 2 years as a reading, writing, and math interventionist until we moved in 2018 to South Carolina. Following the move, I started to work as a substitute teacher at the local school district. This is my first year teaching for the German immersion program. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, and spending time with my family. I have two kids, who are twins, and they will be going off to college in 2020. |
